Liberal Democrat Southwark Council has successfully bid for around £1 million from Department of Transport to make improvements to the Walworth Road, that will help reduce collisions, improve safety and make the road a better place to be.
The project will take three years to complete and should see improvements to pedestrian crossing points, lighting, reduction in pavement clutter and overall make the area a nicer place to meet.
"A cleaner, greener, safer Walworth Road is crucial so that local people, as well as shoppers, visitors and businesses can truly enjoy this thriving area. I hope local people will get fully involved" said Newington ward councillors James Gurling and Jelil Ladipo.
