Plans by London Mayor Ken Livingstone to abolish historic boroughs like Southwark have been slammed by local Liberal Democrats.
The London Mayor wants to scrap the existing 33 London boroughs and replace them with five super boroughs. The Labour group on the Greater London Assembly, backed by Labour's GLA member, has also put forward plans to abolish the boroughs and move to bigger areas of local government in London.
