Simon Hughes MP, Liberal Democrat London spokesman, today urged a deal between London Underground and the RMT to prevent the 24-hour strike due to begin this evening. He said:
"Even at the eleventh hour a deal to stop the strike must be worth having.
"But this must not be a deal at any price, and Londoners want to know that a strike lifted today isn't in return for more strikes tomorrow.
"At the beginning of a new 4-year term the Mayor and Transport for London must sort out transport labour relations for once and for all."
