The Liberal Democrats in Southwark have slammed Labour Ministers for continually promising the earth to Southwark residents and failing to follow through.
The call for the Government to start taking action on its promises comes after two letters to Education Secretary Ruth Kelly on the vital issues of VAT bills for academies and the need for a new school in Dulwich remain unanswered after more than a month.
It also follows yesterday's photo call with Tony Blair and Gordon Brown on an almost deserted Peckham Rye.
Commenting, Cllr Caroline Pidgeon, Lib Dem Executive Member for Education, said:
"It is incredible that Ruth Kelly thinks she can smile sympathetically to the EDEN parents in front of the cameras, then go away and forget all about families in Dulwich.
"Similarly, the issue of whether our new academies will be hit with massive VAT bills is too important for us to hear snippets of information through the media. We need a clear statement from the Government over how it intends to help our academies become a real part of the community."
Cllr Nick Stanton, Lib Dem Leader of Southwark, added:
"Southwark residents are fast growing tired of visits from the Prime Minister and his colleagues that result in little or no action.
"It's time the Labour Government stopped using Southwark as a convenient venue for publicity shots and empty promises and started taking action to help our residents."
