Lib Dem campaigners Jonathan Mitchell and James Barber are leading the campaign to save Dulwich Baths
Loved by locals, but neglected for decades, Dulwich Baths have reached crisis point.
Local campaigners fear Dulwich Baths could close unless money is found to invest. A new condition survey is expected to reveal the true extent of the problem. Experts fear it could cost £6 million to fix.
The situation has been made worse since Labour's flagship Peckham Pulse pool was forced to close. That pool was never properly built, no longer holds water and leaks like a sieve - putting more pressure on Dulwich Baths.
Dulwich Baths badly needs investment. As a first step the local Liberal Democrat team is pressing for some of the smaller jobs like internal decorations of the pool to be carried out as a matter of urgency.
Local campaigner James Barber said: "The decades of neglect must come to an end. It is time for us to turn a 19th century facility into one fit for the 21st century".
