Camberwell Green's Lib Dem Focus team - Peta Cubberly, Jon Phillips & Paul Miles
Southwark Liberal Democrats have selected a winning team to fight Camberwell Green in this year's local elections. After coming just 50 votes behind Labour in 2002, the Liberal Democrats believe this could be a key battleground for May 4th.
The Camberwell Green Team will provide an excellent mixture of local knowledge and campaign expertise from three long-standing Liberal Democrat activists.
The selected candidates are:
Peta Cubberly. Peta has lived in Camberwell since 2002 and has worked in Parliament for five years, currently working for Liberal Democrat MP and former women's spokesperson, Annette Brooke. As a Camberwell resident she has seen the improvements made under the Lib Dems, particularly in terms of recycling and community wardens, and is keen to help make Camberwell even better.
Paul Miles. Paul has lived in Camberwell for the last three years and works in finance for a Corporate and Investment Bank in Canary Wharf.
He is committed to improving the local parks and sports facilities, and particularly welcomes the new tennis courts in Burgess Park. He is a keen fund-raiser, and raised over £2,500 for "Tommy's, the baby charity" by running the 2005 London Marathon.
Jon Phillips. Jon has lived in Southwark for 15 years. He works as an Operation Director in finance for a Leasing Company. He is a committed community campaigner and a trustee of a charity that only supports causes in Southwark.
Liberal Democrat Leader, Cllr Nick Stanton, said:
"In 2002 the Liberal Democrats lost out in Camberwell Green by only 50 votes. Since then we have shown residents in Camberwell Green that the Lib Dems have made a real difference to their area - creating Community Councils that have funded better lighting, new play facilities and clean up campaigns. The Lib Dems have also put community wardens on the streets to keep the area safer."
"Peta, Jon and Paul - our team for Camberwell Green - are all incredibly hard-working Lib Dem activists who will continue to make Camberwell cleaner, greener and safer."
