The Liberal Democrat Leader of Southwark Council has attacked the local Labour Group for wasting council time over proposals to change the senior management structure of the Council.
"For the past two months Labour has been ranting and raving about the changes to the Council's senior management structure," said Cllr Nick Stanton, Liberal Democrat Leader of Southwark Council. "Yet when it came to the debate last night on the plans, not a single Labour councillor made a speech against the changes."
"We had expected the Labour Group to set out their criticisms of the plans and to outline their alternative vision for how to improve services for tenants and residents. Yet they came up with nothing more than a criticism of whether the Council Constitution allotted a particular power to one committee or another."
"It seems quite clear that Labour haven't got a clue about how to run the Council. Thank goodness local residents have denied them the opportunity and put their trust in the Liberal Democrats."
