WILMA WINS. The campaign team celebrate Wilma Nelson's landslide election victory in Rotherhithe.
Liberal Democrat Wilma Nelson has won a landslide victory in the Rotherhithe by-election. Wilma is Chair of Millpond Tenants and Residents Association and has been active in cutting crime and anti-social behaviour in the area.
In her acceptance speech, Wilma Nelson thanked her opponents, her campaign team and the voters in Rotherhithe ward. She also paid tribute to the late Anne Yates, whose sad passing caused the by-election.

The results show an increased Liberal Democrat total vote, percentage vote and majority - as well as the continued weakness of the Conservative party in Southwark. The full results were as follows:
Wilma Nelson, Liberal Democrat: 1149 (56.8% - up 9.2%)
Kath Whittam, Labour: 618 (30.6% - up 5.4%)
Loanna Morrison, Conservatives: 255 (12.6% - down 4.3%)
LIB DEM HOLD. SWING: 1.9% Labour to Lib Dem
