I am very sad to pass on the news of the death this morning of Hilary Wines, dear friend and hugely valued colleague to many, much loved Liberal Democrat councillor for Cathedral Ward for many years, and wonderful Mayor of the borough.
Hilary died peacefully in her sleep at 3 o'clock in the Trinity Hospice in Clapham after an eight month struggle with cancer. She was hugely grateful for all the love, support and friendship she received over the last very difficult months. Hilary was also particularly grateful for the loving care of Trinity Hospice in her last days.
A fuller obituary and tribute and full details of funeral arrangements will be announced next week. The funeral is planned to be in Southwark in early September.
