Caroline Pidgeon backs new local business at the Elephant

3.15.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 14th Apr 2008

Cllr Caroline Pidgeon, Liberal Democrat GLA candidate for Lambeth & Southwark today celebrated the opening of a new flower stall at the Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre.

Local resident Jean Reardon has re-trained as a florist, achieving her City and Guilds qualification from Southwark College. Having sought business advice from local organisations, she has now set up her very own flower stall in the shopping centre called 'Holly's Flowers'.

"It just shows that no matter how old you are you can re-train and set up a business as long as you have the energy and vision - as Jean clearly has" said Caroline Pidgeon, who is also Jean's local Councillor.

"I am delighted that Jean has set up her new business, and hope it goes from strength to strength".
