Cllr Nick Stanton, Leader of Southwark Liberal Democrats, today condemned the decision to close 8 of Southwark's post offices.

Local residents, Liberal Democrat councillors, GLA member Caroline Pidgeon and Simon Hughes MP have campaigned against the closure of the branches at Dockhead, East Street, Maddock Way, Melbourne Grove, Ilderton Road, Peckham Road, Gibbon Road, Old Kent Road.

Cllr Nick Stanton said:

"Thousands of local people signed petitions opposing these closures, but their views have been ignored.

"Post office customers are among the most vulnerable people in our community - this decision will come as yet another blow to these people.
