David Watson for Peckham
David lives in Peckham and was elected as a Southwark Liberal Democrat Councillor in 2022. He is the Chief Whip for the Liberal Democrat Opposition Group and campaigns regularly for the Liberal Democrats locally and across the UK.
As a local councillor, David has secured housing for vulnerable people, championed local communities against big business developers and secured funding for local parks and neighbourhood projects.
David has over 20 years experience working in communications, policy development and advocacy. He is currently communications director of an international affairs think tank and has worked previously in the public and charitable sectors on environment, foreign policy and human rights issues.
On being selected as the Liberal Democrat prospective parliamentary candidate for Peckham, David said:
“This disgraced and out of touch Conservative government must be voted out. They have brought the NHS to its knees, sent people’s mortgages skyrocketing and divided communities.
But Labour are a mediocre alternative. Here in Peckham, Labour-run Southwark Council has just been ranked one of the worst performing in the UK by the Office for Local Government.
Peckham voters deserve real change. They deserve a fair deal. And that’s what the Liberal Democrats offer.”
