Southwark Liberal Democrats Deliver Scathing Response to TfL Bus Cuts Consultation
On Friday, the Southwark Liberal Democrats submitted their response to the TfL Central London Bus Review consultation.
The response outlines the disproportionate impact the proposed changes will have on the transport network in Southwark and South London.
The Central London Bus Review will withdraw 16 bus routes, a quarter of which serve Southwark as well as changing a further 17 routes serving residents in the borough.
The TfL consultation ends on Sunday 7th August.
Commenting, Leader of the Southwark Liberal Democrat Group Cllr Victor Chamberlain said:
“It is abundantly clear that these proposed cuts to the bus network will be devastating to all Londoners and will have a particularly disproportionate impact on South London and Southwark. These cuts will harm the most vulnerable hardest and first in our city and make Londoners less safe when travelling home at night. And that is why the Southwark Liberal Democrat group is urging TfL and Sadiq Khan to immediately abandon these reckless proposals”
