Southwark Named As Top 10 Council for Six-Figure Pay

Liberal Democrats have slammed Labour after a recent report came out naming Southwark Council as having the 10th highest number of officers on more than £100,000.
The “Town Hall Rich List” is an annual report breaking down which bosses at local councils across the country are making the most money from salaries, bonuses, and other forms of pay.
In the category of “number of employers in receipt of renumeration over £100,000”, out of 394 councils, Southwark came 10th in the country, with 41 officers making six figures.
Commenting, Liberal Democrat Leader of the Opposition Cllr Victor Chamberlain said:
“While Southwark residents struggle with rising costs, a broken housing system, and failing frontline services, Labour are signing off six-figure salaries for senior execs at the Town Hall.
We’re in the top 10 councils for the number of staff earning over £100,000—but where’s the value for money? Crime is going up, the Council admits it won’t meet its climate goals, and customer service is appalling.
This isn’t about punishing public sector workers—it’s about priorities. Southwark Labour are rewarding failure while our communities are left behind.
Residents deserve better.”
