Southwark Revealed to be the 8th Most Complained about Council in England
A recent survey from the Local Government Ombudsman has revealed that Southwark is the 8th most complained about council in England.
Data from the 2021-22 review of local government complaints showed that Southwark had received 32.2 complaints per 10,000 people in the past year.
70% of the complaints received were upheld and the majority of complaints were related to housing issues.
Commenting, Leader of the Southwark Liberal Democrats Cllr Victor Chamberlain said:
“These findings just confirm what we already knew – that Labour is not delivering for the people of this borough. The fact that so many people feel so let down by the council to the point they have to complain is emblematic of Labour’s poor record.
It is no surprise that housing is the main source of complaints. Our borough has a disrepair crisis that Labour refuse to deal with and a social housing waiting list that Labour has done nothing to reduce. The Southwark Liberal Democrats join the residents who have complained in demanding better.”
